Golden Flower Fu Brick Tea — GROUNDED
An aged fermented tea with naturally grown golden flowers.
Golden Flower Fu Brick Tea is a 2018 Fu brick dark tea, handcrafted by the traditional method in Xinhua County, Hunan, China. Fu brick is a pressed Chinese dark tea. Break a piece open and you will see small golden specks inside: these are the “golden flowers” (Eurotium cristatum). They develop naturally inside the brick during the slow “flowering” stage of production, when temperature and humidity are carefully managed, and a good, even bloom is the traditional mark of a well-made brick.

FAQ
Are the golden flowers mold?
No. They are Eurotium cristatum, which develops naturally inside the brick during production. They are expected in Fu brick tea and a sign of a well-made brick. Spoilage looks different: fuzzy white, green or black patches with a musty smell. Read more in our Fu brick guide.
Does it contain caffeine?
Yes. It is made from tea leaves.
How is it different from black tea?
Black tea is oxidized and dried. Fu brick is a dark tea that is fermented, pressed and aged, which gives it a mellower, woodier taste. Compare with our Wild Ancient Tree Black Tea, or try a caffeine-free option: Nine-Steamed Huangjing.
